About Our Alliance

Advancing STEM education through FIRST Robotics and community-driven initiatives in eastern Dane County.

Prairie Robotics Alliance, Inc. is a Wisconsin 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to advancing STEM education through FIRST Robotics programs and community partnerships in the Sun Prairie area.

We believe hands-on learning changes lives. By supporting student robotics teams and building community-facing STEM infrastructure, we create pathways for young people to discover engineering, programming, project management, and leadership — skills that translate directly into careers and community impact.

Our work extends beyond any single team or season. We are building a multi-program pipeline — from elementary school through high school graduation — and a community fabrication lab that will serve students and makers throughout eastern Dane County.

We are based at Prairie Phoenix Academy in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. If you'd like to get involved, please reach out at info@sprobotics.org.

Make an Impact

They Can't Do It Without You.

Our students are designing, building, and competing at the highest levels of FIRST Robotics — developing real-world engineering skills, confidence, and career pathways. But none of it happens without community support. Every dollar, every hour, and every piece of equipment directly fuels a student's future.

$45,000
Estimated annual cost per team — covering materials, competition entry fees, safety equipment, tools, travel, and more.

Ways to Support

There are many ways to get involved — choose what works best for you.

Monetary Donation

Your financial gift funds competition registrations, raw materials, tools, safety gear, and travel. Every amount makes a difference — a $50 donation covers a student's safety equipment for the season.

Build the Future.

Impact isn't measured only on the competition field. It's measured in our community — and in how we serve others.

Prairie Robotics Alliance is growing into a regional hub for FIRST Robotics in eastern Dane County, building programs and infrastructure that reach students long before high school and leave the community stronger for it.

Robots and ranking points matter — but they're not the point. The point is students who grow into neighbors, mentors, and problem-solvers. PRA's rookie 2025 season proved what this community can accomplish from a standing start. What comes next is a multi-program pipeline, a community-facing fabrication lab, and STEM outreach that meets students where they are. Here's what we're building — and it's bigger than one team.

01

Community Impact

The scoreboard doesn't measure what we're actually building. The real scoreboard is students serving their community.

  • STEM skills taught in partnership with local schools and youth organizations
  • Volunteer hours in Sun Prairie and greater Dane County — students showing up for their neighbors
  • Public demos, library events, and outreach at community festivals
  • Service projects that put student-built skills to work for people who need them
  • Gracious Professionalism in action — year-round, not just at competition
02

Team Expansion

Building a pipeline from elementary school through high school — so no student has to wait until 9th grade to start building.

  • Two new FIRST LEGO League teams for the 2026–2027 season, creating an elementary and middle school on-ramp
  • A second FRC team for newer high school members — giving rookies a dedicated learning runway while Team 10522 competes at full speed
  • Aligned with regional growth: eastern Dane County is one of the fastest-expanding FIRST communities in Wisconsin
03

Fabrication Lab

An open-access prototyping space where students across all PRA programs can design, build, and iterate on real projects.

  • CNC machining — precision routing and milling for competition-grade parts
  • 3D printing fleet — PETG, ABS, and PLA capable for rapid prototyping
  • Metal fabrication — miter saw, band saw, drill press, with dedicated dust collection
  • Laser cutting and standard shop tools
  • Safety-first: red-tool certification, Adult Safety Leads on site, documented shop safety program

Why This Matters

The trophy case isn't the point — the community we leave better than we found it is. Advancing STEM education through FIRST Robotics, building a regional pipeline from elementary school through graduation, and equipping students with real-world skills that transfer directly to careers: all of it in service of a Sun Prairie community that shows up for each other. This is what Prairie Robotics Alliance is building — and we're just getting started.
